How to use CAQH for credentialing?
CAQH, or the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare, is a nonprofit alliance of health plans and trade associations that streamlines the credentialing process for healthcare providers. Here's how you can use CAQH for credentialing:
- Create an Account: The first step is to create an account on the CAQH website. This account will serve as your centralized repository for all credentialing information and documents.
- Complete Provider Data Form: Once your account is set up, you'll need to complete the Provider Data Form (formerly known as the Universal Provider DataSource). This form collects basic information about you and your practice, such as contact details, education, training, licensure, and certifications.
- Upload Documents: CAQH requires you to upload supporting documents to verify the information provided in the Provider Data Form. These documents may include copies of your licenses, certifications, DEA registration, malpractice insurance, and any other relevant credentials.
- Authorize Release of Information: As part of the credentialing process, you'll need to authorize CAQH to release your information to participating health plans and credentialing organizations. This allows them to access your credentialing data electronically, saving time and paperwork.
- Keep Information Updated: It's essential to keep your CAQH profile updated with any changes to your credentials, contact information, or practice details. This ensures that health plans and credentialing organizations have access to accurate and current information when reviewing your credentials.
- Monitor Application Status: Once you've completed your CAQH profile and authorized the release of information, you can monitor the status of your credentialing applications through the CAQH ProView portal. This allows you to track the progress of your applications and address any issues or requests for additional information promptly.
